About our school
Our facilities
At Fairfield Primary School, we recognise the importance of inviting, well-designed learning and outdoor spaces that every child can enjoy.
Our school spans two campuses, located across the road from each other. The Langridge Street Campus, home to our original building dating back to 1885, forms the heart of our main school, while the Wingrove Street Campus is dedicated to our senior students.
Across both campuses, our indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed to inspire learning, creativity, and wellbeing.
Langridge Street Campus
Our classroom spaces are a thoughtful blend of old and new. The character of the original red brick building, including our much-loved Old Hall with its beautiful stained glass windows, proudly stands at the heart of our school. This heritage setting blends seamlessly with more recent classroom additions. In 2019, thanks to a $2.5 million State Government grant, we opened a new two-storey facility featuring six modern classrooms and flexible breakout learning spaces.
This campus also holds our specialist learning spaces — a welcoming library, dedicated Science classroom, fully equipped gymnasium, a light-filled Art Studio, and a purpose-built Performing Arts studio with an adjoining outdoor classroom. These spaces inspire creativity, movement, discovery, and hands-on learning.
Wingrove Street Campus
Funded by a $7 million grant in the 2019 State Budget, our Wingrove Street Campus opened in 2021. Located just across the street from the main school, this modern building is home to our Year 5 and Year 6 students, providing them with a dedicated space designed to support their learning and growing independence.
Outdoor spaces
At our school, inspiring outdoor spaces are just as important as our classrooms. Our spacious grounds offer students room to explore, play, and let their imaginations run wild — from energetic ball games on the oval to quiet moments creating fairy gardens in the forest. There is truly something for every child.
Our facilities have grown alongside our community. In 2018, we opened a competition-grade netball and basketball court complete with floodlights. The following year, the Eastern Playground was transformed into a spectacular $230,000 community-funded play space. Picnic areas, a synthetic turf oval, and an indigenous garden, — Kann’s Winya — add even more opportunities for fun, learning, and connection. Visitors often remark on the abundance of student artwork throughout the campus, bringing colour, creativity, and a sense of pride to every corner.
Looking ahead, 2026 marks the start of a major redevelopment of part of the school yard. Plans include permeable paving, a rainwater garden, and additional seating. With the design stage complete, soil tested, and our Buildings and Grounds Committee collaborating closely with landscape architects, the project is set to go to tender soon, promising an even more engaging and sustainable outdoor environment for our students.
