Enrol your child
Foundation transition program
Starting primary school is a major milestone for all children. Our transition program offers both formal and informal opportunities for future students to become familiar with the facilities, programs, teachers, and their peers.
The transition program, held in November, is designed to help families feel more confident in joining our community and encourages children to commence Foundation with confidence. It is comprised of the following:
Five orientations sessions
In the sessions, children will experience a variety of classroom activities that have a Literacy and/or Numeracy focus. Children go to the same classroom for each session while the teachers rotate across the groups. This ensures that your child will become familiar with several of the teachers at Fairfield Primary School.
Open Afternoon
Parents and children are invited to attend an optional after-school session in the Foundation classrooms. The session offers the opportunity to experience orientation activities and connect with other families.
Parent Information Evening
This session is designed to answer your questions about starting school, from school processes to uniforms, to a ‘typical’ day.
‘Meet Your Teacher’ session
Held in December, this session brings the transition program to a conclusion – it is where children officially meet their teacher and classmates in their assigned classroom.Social Night for Foundation Families
While the transition program focuses on making a smooth shift from kindergarten to school, we recognise that adults are transitioning too. Early in term one, we host a social night for all parents of Foundation students. This is a fun, casual evening where adults can meet, mix and chat. It is a much-appreciated opportunity to make connections and become a part of the school community.
