Recent Minutes

Responsibilities

The School Council is the governing body of the school. It has the overall responsibility for developing the policies and direction of the school.

Key responsibilities of the council are:

  • Developing the four yearly School Strategic Plan
  • Overseeing and approving the budget
  • Overseeing the out of school hours program
  • Supervising the management and maintenance of school grounds and buildings
  • Revising school policies
  • Reporting back to the school community
  • Ensuring that the school is responsive to the school community and the wider local community

Composition

School Council is made up of parents and teachers, including the principal as executive officer. It can also include members of the wider school community. At present there are nine parents and four staff on council. The council encourages parents to communicate concerns or feedback by contacting any member of the council. Sub-committees

There are currently five subcommittees which report back to the council. In 2009 they are:

  • Finance Committee
  • Environment Committee
  • Policy Committee
  • Fundraising Committee
  • Out of School Hours Program

There are also working parties set up from time to time to work on one off issues.

Parents are welcome to attend any meeting of the school council which meets twice each term. Parents can also get involved by joining subcommittees or standing for election to the council.

A brief report of the issues discussed at each meeting will be included in the school newsletter and a copy of the minutes are available from the office.
